GWCL TO INTERRUPT WATER SUPPLY TO PARTS OF ACCRA

The Ghana Water Company Limited has
announced an interruption to water supply to parts of Accra starting Monday, September 13.
GWCL in a statement said it’s engineers will be replacing some faulty valves on the main 900mm transmission pipelines, which impedes water flow and causes challenges in the distribution lines.

It is also said there are some leakages also within the supply area, causing GWCL to lose several volumes of water daily and consequently having a serious impact on the volumes available for consumption.

Management of GWCL stated that those likely to be affected are consumers in the western part of the metropolis and implored them to store enough water consumption during the period of the shutdown.”

The areas envisaged to be hard hit include: Weija, Gbawe, Bortianor, Kokrobite, Kasoa, Mallam, Sakaman, Odorkor, Dansoman, Mamprobi, Agege, Korle-Gorno, Korle-Bu, Laterbiokorshie, Mataheko, North Industrial Area, Kaneshie, Awudome Estate, North Kaneshie, Abeka La Paz, Kwashieman, Anyaa, Santa Maria, Ablekuma, Alhaji, Tabora, Tesano, Dome, Taifa, Achimota and surrounding communities.

The statement from GWCL added that the “necessary equipment, logistics, and personnel required to execute the project have been secured and a s a result, consumers are assured that, barring any unforeseen predicament, the project must be completed on schedule.

The public is also assured, that supply will resume immediately repair works are completed.
